2024 Autumn/Winter Beauty Report

Posted on September 18, 2024November 2, 2024 by zeusnice

Once you’ve aced your base with clear skin and sculpted features, dare to experiment with unexpected yet edgy eyeshadows and barely there brows which, coincidentally, ruled the runways.

CHIC AND SLEEK

Up, down—however you style it, the success of this look hinges upon high-shine lacquered locks with nary a flyaway or frizzy end in sight. Consider these styles the elevated interpretations of the sculpted, clean girl hair look we know and love.

AS SEEN AT Hui, Mugler, Uma Wang, Valentino.

BLEACHED AND SOMETIMES BROWLESS

Out (hopefully, forever): beauty according to the male gaze. In: bleached brows, inspired by Charli XCX’s Brat pack: Julia Fox, Gabbriette and Alex Consani. This one’s for the avant-garde, fashion-forward girls. Wallflowers need not apply.

AS SEEN AT Del Core, Susan Fang, Ferragamo, Hellessy, Uma Wang.

PINK EYE

Note to self: perfection is boring. Case in point, the haphazardly dabbed on, petal pink eyes by Peter Philips. The make-up maestro noticed the absence of pink in the runway collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and thus added the right amount of chaos and modernity at Dior…

AS SEEN AT Christian Dior, Evade House.

RED EYE

…while make-up artists at Hui, Moschino and Viviano struck out in bold crimsons to really make an impact.

TAUPE AND TONAL

Consider it 50 shades of grey as cool-toned greige and stone hues provide an edgier (read: ghoulish) twist to warm winter browns and safe caramel tones. But it’s not just about heavy, immediately obvious applications of colour: building up sheer, veil-like layers of the tint on the lips and eyes keeps this energy au courant.

AS SEEN AT Victoria Beckham, Roberto Cavalli, Fetico, Dilara Fındıkoğlu, Moschino, Rokh, Uma Wang, Viviano.

RHYTHM AND BLUES

Depart from metallic, high-saturated blues. We’re looking for the opposite of colour intensity here. To channel autumn/winter’s hottest bluesy look, keep your shadows matte and misty—the chalkier in payoff, the better. For a ’60s eye, opt for a Twiggy-esque sky blue. For a more contemporary update, a near-white nuance of blue across the lids will suffice.

AS SEEN AT Chanel, Conner Ives, Kiko Kostadinov, Tiit.
